MAMA MAMA!

After days of trying to get my thoughts together. Not fully wanting to take my mind to such a dark place to express myself, in fear of not being able to come out of it. I had to break my silence. .

.

.

The reality is we live in a dark world... no matter if I want to escape it, it’s here and it’s real! .

.

.

I’ve been “the minority” most of my life... rather it’s school, work or even just going shopping at certain places. .

.

.

I’ve gotten the slick comments, eye stare, and it all. It doesn’t feel good but I always brushed it off and kept it going.

.

.

.

But let me tell you it hits different when it’s happening to your child! .

.

.

I’ll never forget a few years ago when my oldest son was 4 I had to teach him what racism was. .

.

.

Never In my life did I think I would be telling a 4-year-old that monster are actually real. .

.

.

But here I was explaining to him that some people simply will hate you just because of the color of your skin.

.

.

.

What prompts such a deep conversation for a preschooler you ask? .

.

.

His preschool teacher angry and also on the verge of tears calls me to tell me what took place in the class that day

.

.

.

She proceeded to tell me how

A little boy in the class passed out papers to everyone at the table except my son. .

.

.

My son asked the boy can he have a paper and the boy had the nerve to tell him, NO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BECAUSE YOUR SKIN IS BROWN AND ONLY PEOPLE WITH WHITE SKIN CAN HAVE IT! .

.

.

As you can imagine my son went to his teacher crying... not fully grasping what happened but mostly crying because he really wanted a paper. .

.

.

Right then my BLACK son at age 4 had his first taste of racism in this world.

.

.

.

At that moment more then the paper my son wanted his mama. .

.

.

This brings me to George Floyd who called out for his mama 2 times before he passed away. .

.

.

My heart breaks just thinking of it.

A son calling out to his mama at a moment where he felt racism take over. .

.

.

Policy brutality and Racism has to stop!

There doesn’t ever need to be another

black boy calling out for his mama!

.

.

.

Mama

Mama
